University of Wisconsin-Madison in Federal Investigation on Dei

For the second time in a week, the Federal Department for Education placed the University of Wisconsin-Madison on a warning list.

The department said on Friday that he opened an investigation into UW-Madison and 44 other universities for alleged racial discrimination. The notifications appeared exactly one month after the department issued great guidance threatening to attract financing from colleagues who do not eliminate all the considerations regarding the breed in policies and programs.

The investigation focuses on universities partnerships with PhD projectA non -profit that promotes diversity in the workforce, helping underrepresented students to achieve doctoral studies in business. The department said that the program limits the eligibility based on the race, and the colleges that are associated with the organization are engaged in exclusively practices of the race in their graduation programs.

“The students must be evaluated according to merit and achievement, which are not harmed by their skin color,” said the secretary of education, Linda McMahon, in a statement. “We will not give up this commitment.”

UW-Madison has not yet been officially notified of any complaint with the doctoral project, said the University spokesman John Lucas on Friday, shortly before noon. If a complaint is received, the University will cooperate with any investigation.

The doctoral project did not immediately return a comment request.

Department warned UW-Madison and dozens of other institutions On Monday about potential application actions, it may be necessary if they fail to protect Jewish students. UW-Madison was entered on the list due to an open investigation in early 2024, after a conservative news store filed a complaint.

Both warnings are part of the wider repression of the Trump administration on higher education. Colombia University became the displayed child, seeing $ 400 million in undigested subsidies and contracts. The administration also tried to deport Colombia, Mahmoud Khalil. He is a permanent legal resident who has played a leading role in pro-Palestinian protests at the University last year.

Department of Education reduced half of his staff earlier this week. That included at least 243 employees in the civil right officeapplying the anti-discrimination laws in the center of UW-Madison investigations.

Governor Tony Evers Other states joined on Thursday to sue the Department’s discounts. They argue that the triggering of the department effectively prevents him from fulfilling their responsibilities perceived by Congress.
