Two men denied the bail after the alleged burglary attempt

The police accused two men who were arrested near a burglar attempt in Naxxar.

Jonathan Degiorgio and Ibrahim Hifest Ibrahim El-Degwy were refused to refuse the bail on Sunday, after the alleged burglary attempt.

The criminal prosecution told the court that the police were warned of a interruption at a Naxxar residence. When the police arrived, it is assumed that the pair was seen running away from the scene.

While no missing articles were reported, the police examined the CCTV materials in the area, which would have shown to the two accused who wore the same clothes as those who saw the people who fled the scene.

The defense requested bail, to which the criminal prosecution was opposed, arguing that the key civilian witnesses did not have to testify. The court was also informed that Degiorgio had several violations of the search in his record, while El-Degwy had a criminal convictions.

Magistrate Astrid May Grima denied bail.

Lawyers Franco Debono and Adana Zammit appeared on behalf of Jonathan Degiorgio, while Ingrid Zammit Young represented El-Degwy. The criminal prosecution was led by the inspector Joseph Mallia.
