Man convicted for 2022 carjacking and robbery

San Francisco-a 23-year-old man is experiencing a possible prison sentence, after a jury found guilty of stealing a car at the point of weapon almost three years ago in San Francisco, according to the authorities.

Jose Guevara-Espinoza was sentenced to carjacking and robbery on Tuesday, said San Francisco district prosecutor in a press release.

On April 16, 2022, Guevara-Espinoza and a accomplice landed the victim with gun weapons and asked for the car keys while parked in block 3700 on Fillmore Street, according to prosecutors. The victim, fearing that he would be shot, taught his wallet and his 2018 BMW keys. One of the attackers then ran to BMW and forced a passenger at the point, while the other entered a getaway machine.

Prosecutors said the victim used a plane on his car keys and the BMW mobile app to track their car to Oakland. The Dash Camera video also showed Guevara-Espinose driving the BMW in the city and changing the registration plates with another car.

Officers with the Oakland Police Department recovered the car the same night and found the Guevara-Espinose jacket, according to prosecutors. The pants and shoes he wore in the video and a weapon were discovered later during a search for his house.

Six hours before San Francisco’s armed carjacking, Guevara-Espinoza and his accomplices approached another individual for his Berkeley vehicle, prosecutors said.

And on April 25, 2022, Guevara-Espinoza and two other accomplices took another person’s car at the Daly City weapon, according to prosecutors. The car was also recovered during the search for his house.

“I want to thank the jury for the careful examination of the evidence in this case and the return of a verdict that responds to Mr. Guevara-Espinose for his actions,” said the prosecutor of the San Francisco District, Angela Rose, in a statement. “This verdict sends a message according to which violent crime will not be tolerated in our city.”

Guevara-Espinoza remains in arrest. Prosecutors said that his conviction will be scheduled following an hearing on May 2.
