Videos show the last minutes before the deaths of workers in Gaza, Red Crescent says

A video recovered from the mobile phone of a helpful aid worker in Gaza along with other rescuers show their final moments, according to Palestinian red crescent, with clearly marked ambulances and emergency lights that turn on while heavy weapons.

The aid worker was among 15 humanitarian personnel killed on March 23 in an attack by Israeli forces, according to the United Nations and Palestinian Red Crescent.

The Israeli army said that its soldiers “did not accidentally attacked” no ambulance, insisting that they fired on “terrorists” approaching them in “suspicious vehicles”.

The spokesman of the military, the lieutenant of Colonel Nadav Shoshani, said that the troops opened the fire on the vehicles who had no prior authorization from the Israeli authorities and extinguished their lights.

However, the filming launched by the Red Forest on Saturday seem to contradict the claims of the Israeli army, showing ambulances traveling with the light headlights and the emergency lights.

The video of six minutes of 42 seconds, apparently filmed from a moving vehicle, captures a red truck and ambulances that drive through the night on the background of constant automatic firearms.

The vehicles stop next to another on the side of the road, and two men in uniform are coming out.

In the video, the voices of two doctors are heard – one saying “the vehicle, the vehicle” and another who responds: “it seems to be an accident.”

Seconds later, a firearm volleyball comes off and the screen becomes black.

– “brutality of occupation” –

The Red Crescent said he found the video on Rifat Rifat’s phone, one of the helpful help workers.

“This video unequivocally rejects the statements of the occupation that the Israeli forces do not randomly concern the ambulances and that some vehicles have approached suspiciously, without lights or emergency marks,” it is said in a statement.

“Filming exposes the truth and dismantles this fake narrative.”

Later, on Saturday, the spokesman of Red Crecent, Nabal Farsakh, told journalists that Israeli soldiers “opened the frantic and hysterical fire” at The Meds.

“Then I heard the soldiers speaking Hebrew,” Farsakh said, adding that the fate of a doctor, identified only as Assad, remained unknown.

“We think he was arrested.”

Hamas, in a statement issued on Saturday, called the video “a cursed proof of the bakery of occupation”.

“It also demonstrates a deliberate attempt to cover the crime by burying victims in mass graves and hiding the truth,” Hamas said.

Those killed included eight red crescent staff, six members of the Civil Defense Agency in Gaza and an employee of the UN Agency for Palestinian refugees.

Their bodies were found buried near the city of Rafah in Gaza, in what was described the UN Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) as a mass grave.

Ocha said that the first team was targeted by the Israeli forces at the dawn of March 23. In the hours that followed, the additional rescue and help teams looking for their colleagues were also hit in a series of attacks.

According to the Red Cute, the convoy was sent in response to the emergency calls of civilians trapped in Bombardment in Rafah.

– fear and prayers –

In the video, a doctor who records the scene can be heard by reciting the Islamic profession of faith, Shahada, whom Muslims traditionally say in the face of death.

“There is no God, but God, Mohammed is his messenger,” he repeatedly says, his voice trembling with fear, while the intense firearm continues in the background.

He is also heard, saying, “Forgive my mother because I chose the way to help people.”

He then says, “Accept my martyrdom, God and forgive me.”

Just before the filming is completed, he is heard saying “the Jews come, the Jews come”, referring to the Israeli soldiers.

Seconds later, a male voice is heard speaking in Hebrew without a foreign accent. “Wait, we come. We are not responsible – you are responsible,” says the voice.

The identity of the speaker and with whom he addresses are not clear.

The death of the aid workers aroused international conviction.

Jonathan Whitall, the head of the Ocha in the Palestinian territories, said that the human workers’ bodies were “in their uniforms, carrying still gloves” when they were found.

The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Turk, condemned the attack, saying he raised concerns about the possible “war crimes” by the Israeli army.

“I am horrified by the recent killing of 15 medical staff and humanitarian aid, which raises additional concerns about the Commission of War by the Israeli army,” Turk told the UN Security Council on Thursday.

An Israeli military official said that the bodies were covered “in sand and canvas” to protect them until they could make arrangements with international organizations to find them.
